No, not for winning an election …. if I had those powers of foresight I’d put them to better use like picking the winning numbers for Friday’s rollover Euro millions lottery!!
Today, millions of Scots go to the polls to decide whether to remain as part of the United Kingdom or to become an independent country.
The opposing sides are vociferous and there’s suddenly media frenzy from other areas of the country who appear to have only just realised that this referendum has ramifications for the whole of the UK.
A vast majority of people made their minds up quite some time ago but with only hours to go recent polls place some 400,000 voters as “unsure”. Alarmingly, with recent polls indicating a photo finish, Scotland’s future appears to rest on these “undecided” and sadly many may be making snap decisions.
So what must AS be congratulated for?
Regardless of the outcome, approximately half of the country are going to be bitterly disappointed come Friday morning and neither side will easily nor readily forgive and forget the vitriol and ill-deeds of the other that has been seen too frequently in recent months. AS will, for a long time, be recorded in history as the man who divided a nation; notoriety he deserves but this nation does not!
