“Moment to Shine”
6.30am on a chilly June morning and there were more people lining the streets in Ballantrae than I’ve ever seen before.
The Olympic bunting had been out for a few weeks:
The Torch passed through my adopted home village of Ballantrae on the morning of 8th June 2012. Torchbearers from far and wide were selected … sadly, very few of them local!
I managed to get a few snapshots before I fought my way past the procession to get to work:
… and once I got there I had to accompany over 1000 children out onto the streets of Ayr to cheer as the torch passed by!
As an aside: 8 Police outriders on motorcycles I can understand (weaving in and out of traffic, blocking junctions etc.), a fire truck is essential … but really Strathclyde Constabulary … 4 riot vehicles?
To cap it all off, the Torch passes past my former home in Blaydon next week … aren’t I the lucky one :O)

That looks like fun! The Torch passes through Aberdeen on Monday evening, and we may try to go watch.
